Dear Disney,

Hello there, your friendly neighborhood James here! First off, I hope you had a Merry Christmas and wish you the best in the New Year!

That said, I’m asking for something from you and I’ll get right down to it: Could you please make an Indiana Jones/Captain America crossover comic?

Lately you’ve been buying up the rights to a lot of things that I like, such as Marvel, Star Wars and most recently Indiana Jones. I’m not writing to complain about this. In fact, I understand. I really, really do. If I was making billions and billions of dollars off of a multimedia empire for decades, I’d probably do the same thing. So again, I have no issue with you acquiring those properties. But I do have a request.

Now please don’t misunderstand me, I don’t want another Indiana Jones movie. At one point I thought I did, and it turned out that I was very, very wrong. All I’m asking for is a comic book. I’m not even asking you to make it a canon story – although because of the sliding timescale of the Marvel Universe, the late 40’s and early 50’s are starting to look pretty bare story wise. Just saying.

So why do I ask you for this? Well, besides the fact that you can do it just by saying “hey, let’s do an Indiana Jones and Captain America crossover?” I think that there’s potential for a great story and that the characters could naturally work together, in a literal sense. Captain America is a hero from the 40’s, a born patriot who was made to fight all kinds of threats faced by our nation (though mostly mad scientists who are completely bonkers). Indiana Jones is a pastiche of classic pulp magazine heroes, a doctor facing ancient threats with the power of ass-kicking. But not aliens.

Together they could face…something. I don’t know, surprise me. Have Red Skull pull Belloq’s soul from Hell and place it into a robot body or something. Maybe add a death ray, too. You kind of own half of all entertainment properties right now, so you should be able to come up with something that you have the rights to without any issues.

And sure, while the characters should get along just fine, if you found it absolutely necessary you could stage a gratuitous “hero fight.” Through some misunderstanding or the machinations of evil (science or supernatural), Indy and Steve could throw down. Hell, you could even just have one guy punch the other due to a clashing of personalities – a man’s man and a former weakling working together in a stressful situation.

So, that’s all that I’m asking for really. One little crossover comic. It can be as long as the story requires, so long as it’s good.

Sincerely,

James

PS: Please don’t let Shia anywhere near this thing.
